AI Search Answer Page for a Local Service
An answer-first service page written so Google's AI features, ChatGPT and Perplexity can find, understand and quote it, and so human visitors still want to call.
The brief
A regional solar panel installer had a service page optimised the old way: "solar panels [city]" repeated through 1,500 words of general text. When people asked AI assistants questions like "Is solar worth it for a three-bedroom house?", the installer was never mentioned, even though they answered exactly that question on every sales visit.
The approach
I rebuilt the page around the questions buyers actually ask, each answered directly in the first sentence, then supported with specifics. The company, location, services and credentials are stated plainly so an AI system can connect them. FAQs were written to be marked up with structured data.
Delivered
- Question research from sales calls and "People also ask" results
- Rewritten service page with answer-first sections
- FAQ block ready for FAQPage schema
- Entity and consistency checklist for the rest of the site

Solar panels for homes in Ashford and East Kent
Brightfield Solar designs and installs home solar panel and battery systems across Ashford and East Kent. We're MCS-certified, which means your system qualifies for export payments, and we've installed on more than 900 local homes since 2016.
Why it works: The first sentence states who, what and where in plain language. That's the "entity" information AI systems use to decide whether a source is relevant to a local question. The certification is named, with what it means for the customer.
Is solar worth it for a typical three-bedroom house?
For most three-bedroom homes in East Kent with a south, east or west-facing roof, yes. A typical 4 kW system costs £6,000–£8,000 installed and, at current electricity prices, pays for itself in roughly 8 to 11 years. The panels are warrantied for 25 years.
Whether it's worth it for your house depends on three things: roof direction, how much electricity you use during the day, and whether you add a battery. We check all three for free before quoting.
Why it works: The direct answer comes first, in bold, in one sentence. That's the passage most likely to be quoted in an AI answer or featured snippet. The ranges are honest and conditional, which makes them more trustworthy to both people and machines than a single headline figure.
How much do solar panels cost in 2026?
| System | Suits | Typical installed price |
|---|---|---|
| 3 kW | 1–2 bedroom homes | £5,000–£6,500 |
| 4 kW | 3 bedroom homes | £6,000–£8,000 |
| 4 kW + 5 kWh battery | Homes with high evening use | £9,500–£12,000 |
Prices include scaffolding, installation, registration and a 10-year workmanship guarantee. You'll get a fixed written quote after a free survey.
Why it works: Tables are easy for both readers and AI systems to parse. Stating what's included answers the follow-up question before it's asked.
How long does installation take?
Most home installations take one to two days. Scaffolding usually goes up the day before. You'll need to be in for the first morning and for the handover at the end, when we show you the app and check everything works.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need planning permission for solar panels? In most cases, no. Solar panels on a house roof are usually "permitted development" in England. Exceptions include listed buildings and some conservation areas; we check this during the survey.
Will solar panels work in winter? Yes, but they produce less. Panels generate electricity from daylight, not heat, so they still work on cold, bright days. Expect most of your yearly generation between April and September.
Can I sell electricity back to the grid? Yes. With an MCS-certified installation, you can sign up to a Smart Export Guarantee tariff with an energy supplier and be paid for the electricity you export.
How do I get a quote? Book a free survey. We'll look at your roof, your bills and your usage, then send a fixed written quote within three working days.
Why it works: Each FAQ answer starts with a direct "yes", "no" or "in most cases", followed by the nuance. These are ready to mark up as FAQPage structured data, and they answer the exact questions people type or speak into AI assistants.
Why it works
AI answer engines favour pages that answer a question clearly, early and specifically, from a source they can identify. Each section here opens with a self-contained answer that could be quoted on its own, attributed to a named company in a named place. Humans benefit from exactly the same thing: the answer first, then the detail.
